Plainfield Toy Drive Benefits Washington Tornado Survivors

Cash, checks and Target gift cards will also be accepted.

Plainfield's Helping Hugs organization is collecting toys today — Monday, Dec. 2 — to benefit kids affected by the tornado in Washington, Illinois, last month.

Founded by Tom and Elizabeth Hug of Plainfield, the organization has partnered with Plymouth Congregational Church, 24022 W. Lockport St. in downtown Plainfield. Toys for ages 2 to 18 can be dropped off between 2 and 8 p.m. Monday at the church (please enter on the Illinois Street side).

All donations will be delivered to Washington early Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Toys should be new and unwrapped. Helping Hugs will also accept cash, checks or gift cards from Target. If you're writing a check, please make it payable to Washington Secret Santa.
