Plainfield YMCA Success Story: Patron Loses 60 Pounds, Completes Endurance Challenge
Jesus Chavez got fit at the Y and is now challenging himself with various races and events.
The C.W. Avery Family YMCA would like to introduce you to our member, Jesus Chavez. To say that Jesus has been successful in his transformation at the Y, would be an understatement. Not only has he shed over 60 pounds, but has successfully completed numerous obstacle races including, The Spartan Race, The Warrior Dash and The Legend of the Death Race, which he describes below. Thank you Jesus for being a part of our YMCA family! We are tremendously proud of you and your accomplishments!
Jesus Chavez: On Oct 25-26 I took on a 24 endurance challenge. It started at 5:00 on Friday and we went non-stop for the whole time. The challenge consisted of helping put 10 foot logs on to a truck, building a retaining wall, 1000 burpees, 15+ miles of obstacles, Tarzan rope jump to a cargo net, trying to do a 500 piece puzzle with the song "What does a fox say" playing on repeat for 3 hours. The final obstacle was a 5.5 mile hike through the course with our rucksack weighing 75lbs. I won the race in 22 hours and 56 minutes. I'd like to thank the staff at YMCA especially the trainers there for the help with this race. A special thank you goes to Kevin Hir. Without meeting him and boot camp I would never lost the weight and even attempted to do something like this.
