Get Rid of That Halloween Candy: Plainfield-Area Dropoff Spots
Some spots to unload those unwanted sweets.
Still feeling the post-Halloween sugar overload?
Stave off a candy hangover by donating your unwanted sweets or dropping them off at the following locations:
- Drop off candy at the C.W. Avery YMCA by Friday, Nov. 8, and it will be donated to Green Harvest Food Pantry in Plainfield to be placed in holiday baskets for families in need.
- Drop off unwanted sweets at Liberty Elementary School, 1401 Essington Rd. in Bolingbrook, and the PTA will ship it to the troops.
- Dentist Dr. Tom Maurice, 24023 W. Lockport St., is collecting candy for the troops. Drop off unwanted Halloween candy and receive a TCBY gift card in exchange.
- Innovative Orthodontic Centers is doing a sweet swap now through Nov. 8, donations left at the practice's Shorewood (1256 Route 59) or Naperville (55 S. Main St.) locations can be exchanged for fun prizes. Donated candy will go to troops overseas.
- Shorewood Family Dental Care, 607 W. Jefferson St., is doing a Halloween candy "buyback," with donated candy going to Operation Gratitude to be sent to troops overseas.
