Most Chicagoland post office will close early on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, according to a press release from the U.S. Postal Service.
While many locations will close at noon, Plainfield's post office, 14855 S. Van Dyke Road, will be open a bit longer, opening at its regular time at 8 a.m. and closing at 5 p.m.
Post offices in Joliet, Naperville and Bolingbrook will also close at 5 p.m.
Mail will be delivered on those days as scheduled.
In observance of the holidays, post offices will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Only Express Mail will be delivered on those days in most major metropolitan areas. Post offices will resume regular business hours on Thursday, Dec. 26 and Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014
