A Close Encounter...of a Balloon Kind

Our nightly family walk took a welcome detour last night. Got some amazing images of a hot air balloon landing in the CVS parking lot! Definitely a walk to remember for all of us!

Last night, we just happened to be in the right place at the right time.  Let me explain.

I have a dear friend from college who has these amazing family photos from hot air balloon shows. So, when one of my twin boys spotted a hot "ah ba-loo" outside our window after dinner, I grabbed my camera.

The "ah ba-loo" was great, but for a moment, I had more fun watching my boys watch the balloon. Nothing like seeing something new through the eyes of a child (or two, in our case). After a few minutes of watching and picture snapping, the balloon appeared to be getting closer, so we headed out to follow it on our evening walk.

We soon realized that it was landing just beyond our subdivision. We quickly put our jogging stroller to use and ran to find it. As we rounded the corner to the main road, we saw that it had landed in the CVS parking lot. Amazing!

Although we heard sirens and saw "wee-ooo truks" (aka...toddler talk for fire truck), in the parking lot, it quickly appeared that no one was hurt.  Still, the presense of fire trucks might have been an indication that this was not the first landing choice.

Still in awe, we stayed to watch the deflation - as did about thirty or so other on-lookers.

It was awesome. Really.Awesome.

And, as amazing as this was to see in person, I am so thankful to have had my camera. Because the amazing images from last night will always stay with me, and now, they might just find a place into my little ones' hearts one day.

Right place. Right time.
