JCA Presented with Service Award

JCA receives an award for 28 years of service to the Senior Services Center.

Joliet Catholic Academy was presented with an award from the Senior Services Center of Will County to recognize them for 28 years of service to the organization’s Meals on Wheels program on Tuesday, February 12. The award was presented by Pat Hensley, the Executive Director of the Senior Services Center, to Sr. Barb Kwiatkowski, OSF and Fr. Jeff Smialek, O. Carm. of JCA’s campus ministry during the Mardi Gras Party Silent Auction fundraiser at Harrah’s Casino.

Joliet Catholic Academy and its campus ministry work with the Senior Services Center of Will County every Monday year-round to deliver food to the homes of disabled and elderly citizens. Students, staff, faculty, and even parents have gotten involved over the past 28 years to humbly serve the community and enhance the quality of life for those they serve. Fr. Jeff noted that it is a mutually beneficial experience for the people they serve and the students involved as it encourages positive interactions and it may just help brighten someone’s day.
