Grant Will Help Boost Plainfield Fire Protection District's IT Capacity

Illinois American Water presented Plainfield Fire Protection District officials with the $1,250 grant Friday morning.

The Plainfield Fire Protection District was the recent recipient of a grant from Illinois American Water.

The company presented the district with the $1,250 grant Friday, part of its annual Firefighter Grant Program. The program provides funding to fire and emergency organizations serving communities in its service areas.

With the grant funds, the plans to broaden its IT capacity to allow remote access to emergency personnel.

“The district’s ongoing objective is to continue to advance information technology throughout the district," said Deputy Chief David Riddle in a press release. "And the Board of Trustees, staff, and the firefighters of the Plainfield Fire Protection District are grateful to Illinois America Water for their grant."

Karla Olson Teasley, president of Illinois American Water, said the Firefighter Grant Program has been successful in providing assistance to community fire protection efforts.

“Over the last two years we’ve been able to provide 83 grants totaling over $100,000 to fire departments across Illinois," she said. "We look forward to providing even more assistance to firefighters in our communities.”
