Services Scheduled for Ryan Knudsen

The Plainfield 22-year-old died Oct. 14 after being struck while walking along I-55.

Visitation for Ryan A. Knudsen, 22, is scheduled for 2 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet.

Knudsen, of Plainfield, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 14, when he was struck while walking along Interstate 55, Illinois State Police said.

Knudsen was a graduate of Central Elementary, Indian Trial Junior High and Plainfield Central High School in District 202, according to his obituary. He worked at Mickey O'Neill's in downtown Plainfield and had received a scholarship to Lewis University in Romeoville, where he planned to study aviation.

"Ryan was a sparkling young man and a gifted student who was full of life," his obituary reads. "He was devoted to his parents and sister, and all his family, especially his Grandpa Bob during his final illness. He will be remembered for his love of music, his kind heart, his wit and unique sense of humor, his infectious smile, and his talent playing the guitar.

"He was the beloved son of Alan and Jackie (nee Larson) Knudsen; dear brother of Kirsten; loving grandson of Janet L. Lindstrand of Morris and Carolynn (Pasquale 'Pat') DiTrocchio of Niota, TN; and fond great-grandson of Howard and Thelma Applen. His loving girlfriend Evelyn Bravo of Crest Hill, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also survive."

Funeral services are scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Friday at the Fred C. Dames chapel. Interment will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery, Plainfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated.
