Congratulations to Cameron Bettin for Winning the Parks and Natural Resource Management Section's Professional of the Year!

I would like to congratulate Cameron Bettin, Assistant Executive Director and Superintendent of Planning for the Plainfield Park District, for being awarded the Illinois Park and Recreation Association’s “Parks and Natural Resource Management Section’s Professional of the Year.” Bettin received the award at the Illinois Park and Recreation Association’s annual Joint Section Awards Luncheon on Friday, November 8th.  This Illinois Park and Recreation Association’s award is granted to a parks and recreation professional that works to make the parks and recreation profession and our communities’ better places to work, live and play.

Thank you to Rob Sperl, Director of Planning from the Wheaton Park District, and Jenny Knitter, RLA, Superintendent of Planning and Development with the Woodridge Park District, for nominating Cameron Bettin for this award.

Jenny Knitter had this to say about why she nominated Cameron Bettin for this award: “Cameron has been a huge attribute to the section for many years, a long time before I was involved.  I first met Cameron through his leadership role in the Environmental Committee in which he chaired for many years as a committee of PNRMS.  He was instrumental in establishing the environmental committee’s major accomplishments including the Environmental Report Card that so many agencies utilize even today.  Cameron began his career nearly 25 years ago at the Wheaton Park District. While there, he was a part of their initial playground safety program that is a model for many agencies. Cam also worked for the Waukegan Park District and as a manufacturer’s representative before his current position with the Plainfield Park District.  Cameron’s years of service as Superintendent of Planning for Plainfield Park District and for IPRA-PNRMS Environmental Committee has proven his successful leadership role.  The section is very proud to have such a dedicated steward of the land leading and guiding the section to provide great educational and resource opportunities to our members and wishes him great success in the future.  We thank him for his enthusiasm and commitment to leading PNRMS and the Environmental Committee throughout the years.”
