Letter: Plainfield Democrats Support Clean Politics

Send letters to the editor to shannon.antinori@patch.com.

The Plainfield Township Democratic Organization, which I am proud to be a Precinct Committeeman and the Plainfield Township Democratic Chairman, have fully realized and have a standing policy toward the process of clean campaigning.

Many of our Candidates have experienced the loss of signs costing them huge amounts of hard earned campaign funds.

Many of our supporters, businesses and homeowners, have unfortunately experienced candidate signs removed from locations by persons or persons who feel this is how to campaign.

The Plainfield Township Democratic Organization Precinct Committeepersons, Candidates and supporters fully understand and endorse the democratic process and engaging the voters of Plainfield Township.

It is unfortunate, in our Township; there are those who feel removal of opposition signage is the process to get their candidates elected.

Local Republican Candidates and Leaders have obviously failed to follow the same policy exercised by the local Democrats and our Candidates.

Recently, we have not only experienced loss of signage by small minded individuals, we have to contend with the interpretation of placement ordinances by the Plainfield Police Department and the removal of signage, along with the subsequent destruction of the signs.

Though it appears this was a process affecting both parties, it was not a well thought out process by our local police and frankly a waste of local taxpayer dollars.

Many of the signs removed were placed, with permission by local businesses and property owners on their side of sidewalk by Precinct Committeepersons with the understanding Democratic signage will be removed shortly after the General Election.

Again, the Plainfield Township Democratic Organization strongly supports the democratic process of clean politicking and directly engaging the electorate.

Thank you and no matter who you support, please exercise the right to vote this coming November 6th.

Michael “Mike” Keniley

Precinct Committeeman, Plainfield Precinct 14 and the Chairman of the Plainfield Township Democratic Organization
