Plainfield Homecoming Parade

I enjoyed the Homecoming parade today with my mother and daughter as we watched my 2 grand daughters march in the parade wearing their girl scout uniforms and throwing out candy.  We parked at Plainfield Central HS and walked up River Rd. North to Lincoln Hwy.  where we sat and watched the parade go by on this beautiful day.  We met up with the procession on our way back to our car parked north of the tennis courts at Plainfield Central HS.  There was only 1 way in that full parking lot and only 1 way out.  Walking to the end of the parade to pick up our little girls, we turned back around the football field to get back in our car to go home.  Little did we know we were then held hostage in this parking lot for over an hr.  As cars whizzed by on River Rd. getting passed a police officer 1/2 way blocking the street to the north of us, most of them were smiling and laughing as they drove by.  There were barricades and cones with 3 police officers "waiting for the ok" to empty this lot.  As more cars drove by, more people got out of their cars to find out what was wrong and asking WHY can't we leave.  We were told, "Only the people living in the area can use the street". WE live in Plainfield, and WE pay taxes!  Mr. mayor aren't WE allowed to use the streets like the next guy??? Why wasn't there any signs posted about this parking lot ???  The  enter and exit was the same unless you wanted to chance bottoming out your car, as some cars did going over the curbs.  Why were the streets closed at this point allowing the chosen few to use and WE had to wait for, WHAT????  Please block this parking lot with signs and barricades for the next parade in town because WE believe this was poor communication and poor direction of traffic in this area.
