Property Taxes

Has there ever been a challenge against Will County school taxes on ones property tax bill?  Senior Citizens who are on limited income, who have raised their own kids, paid for all their education including the high cost of college have done their job.  Why do they have to pay for kids that are not theirs, or in some cases, kids from non US Citizens.  Why do our politicians think this is fair?  Do politicians even think?
