Children's Sabbath at PUMC

Plainfield United Methodist Church welcomes you to this Sunday's Children's Sabbath. "Whoever welcomes this child in my name welcomes me..."

But Jesus, aware of their inner thoughts, took a little child and put it by his side, and said to them, "Whoever welcomes this child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me; for the least among all of you is the greatest."  -Luke 9:47-48

Plainfield United Methodist Church welcomes you to worship with us as we praise God who has blessed us with children and charged us with their care.

Every 29 seconds a child is born into poverty.  It is time to reorder our priorities and focus on prevention, not punishment, so that every child is set on the path to a promising, productive future that God intends for each and every one. 1

This Sunday, September 30th, PUMC will be participating in the National Observance of Children's Sabbaths, a movement to help unite our country and its faith groups in seeking justice for all, particularly the smallest and often meekest among us.

Come and hear Jesus' message of hope and call to action - for all of God's children are all of our children.  Let us hear and reflect upon this message which places a great burden of responsibility squarely upon our shoulders.

Worship with us as we seek to discover what we can we do as a country, a community, a faith group, and a people to help change the systems and structures in our society which oppress the most vulnerable among us, often our children.

"Little ones to Him belong; They are weak, but He is strong."  Let us be the hands and feet of Jesus and extend His love to the least among us.
