  • Gino Giarrantano, 18, of the 23000 block of Ottawa Street in Plainfield, was arrested by Plainfield police and booked into the Will County jail on a charge of residential burglary, according to jail records.

Sgt. Mike Fisher said police responded to a home in the 16000 block of Edgewood Drive at around 5:45 a.m. Sunday after neighbors reported hearing the homeowner arguing with a trio of teens outside the residence.

The homeowner also called police, saying she had awoken early Sunday morning to find three young men inside her home, according to Fisher. He said the woman was familiar with all three suspects, who are acquaintances of her son.

She said she confronted the men, and spotted boxes of the expensive athletic shoes stacked up near their car, which was parked outside the Edgewater Drive home, Fisher said.

According to police, the trio attempted to steal five pairs of shoes, although Fisher said did not know the estimated value of the collection. On Nike's website, prices for men's Air Jordans range from $95 to $210 for custom sneakers.

After speaking to the homeowner and neighbors, police located Giarrantano and arrested him.

Fisher said police are still looking for the two remaining suspects. He did not release the names of the alleged co-conspirators.
