Bloodhound Tracks Plainfield Man who Fled Joliet Crash Scene

Vaughn Harper is accused of T-boning a woman's car and then taking off on foot, police say.

used a bloodhound to track down a man who allegedly T-boned a woman's car early Sunday morning and then fled the scene on foot, Joliet Police Chief Michael Trafton said.

Vaughn L. Harper, 20, 1705 Cascade Ridge, , was charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident following an accident at Raynor Avenue and John Street at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Harper was westbound on John Street when he allegedly drove through a stop sign and plowed into vehicle traveling southbound on Raynor, Trafton said. The accident left Harper's car undrivable, so he left it behind and took off on foot, he said.

The female driver of the other car transported herself to Provena St. Joseph Medical Center, where she was treated for injuries to her leg and ribs, Trafton said.

Police were able to apprehend Harper when a bloodhound led them to him at Jefferson and Center streets in , he said. He was also taken to St. Joe's, where the victim was able to identify him.

In addition to be charged with fleeing the scene of an injury accident, Harper was also charged with disregarding a stop sign, failure to reduce speed and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
