Teens Busted for Allegedly Stealing Motorized Cart

All were charged with felony theft after find them in possession of the cart, valued at between $1,500 and $2,000, police say.

Three Plainfield teens were arrested Sunday after police found them in possession of a motorized shopping cart they allegedly stole from .

Zachary J. Bopp, 17, 24118 Hazelcrest Drive, Kevin J. Etherington, 18, 24010 Walnut Circle, and Jesse T. Schroeder, 18, 24007 Walnut Circle, were booked into the Will County jail on felony theft charges, Plainfield Sgt. Mike Fisher said.

The three were spotted with the cart in a residential neighborhood near the Walmart store, 12690 S. Route 59, Fisher said. were called but when officers attempted to question them about the cart, valued at between $1,500 and $2,000, they took off on foot, he said.

Police were able to grab two of the suspects before they escaped, and the third was arrested the next day, Fisher said.

Schroeder was additionally charged with resisting or obstructing a peace officer and Bopp was additionally charged with obstructing justice by destroying evidence.
