Local Man Booked on Car Burglary Charge

Police say Douglas Wells broke into a car parked in the Jewel-Osco parking lot in September.

A Plainfield man who police say was caught on tape breaking into a vehicle in the store parking lot has been arrested on burglary charges.

Douglas W. Wells, 48, 24125 W. Joseph St., was arrested by the Will County Sheriff's Office Monday on a warrant issued by the Plainfield Police Department stemming from the burglary that took place Sept. 11.

Sgt. Kevin McQuaid said police identified Wells from the store's parking lot security camera video, which captured the daytime break-in. Wells has been involved in numerous police cases over the past several years and it well known to village police officers, he said.
