Relatives Discover Cousin Selling Their Guitar for Heroin Money: Cops

Joliet police say the man broke into his family's home to steal possessions, including an instrument he sold to Guitar Center.

When a Joliet family returned home Wednesday to find several possessions, including a guitar, had been stolen, they had a pretty good idea of who did it and where they might find the missing instrument, Joliet Police Cmdr. Al Roechner.

They headed over to Guitar Center, 2785 Plainfield Road, Joliet, and found not only the guitar but the person who allegedly took it and sold it to the store -- family cousin Michael R. Ford, 20, of 16558 Zausa Drive, Crest Hill, Roechner said.

Ford was arrested and charged with residential burglary.

According to reports, Ford had been visiting his cousins Wednesday at their home, 6123 Pheasant Ridge, which is in Joliet but has a Plainfield address. He left when they did, but later returned to the empty house to take several items, including the guitar and a laptop computer, Roechner said.

Police were notified of the break-in at about 2:30 p.m., and then called again less than two hours later when Ford was discovered by his angry relatives at Guitar Center and got into an altercation with them, Roechner said.

Ford later admitted to stealing the instrument, which he said he sold because he needed money for his heroin addiction, he said.

Ford is being held in the Will County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. According to court records, he was also arrested in January 2011 on a charge of felony theft.

The truth, not your paranoid version of it, is that the majority of heroin in our country comes through our porous border with Mexico. One of the main reasons we need to seal that hole off.

Nice mugshot maybe he can try to sell that for some heroin when he gets out of jail, I don't know how much someone would be willing to pay for it but it sure is funny to look at.

It's a postal issue, not a township issue. 'Plainfield' addresses process via Plainfield post office. However, if the houses resided in incorporated Joliet, then really it's a Joilet residence. You can confirm 'where' you live by looking at your property tax bill. You pay your city taxes to the town you live in. As for White Eagle, when they built out that area they boasted "Naperville 204" schools. They have always been that way. It was a marketing campaign based on the fact that most people don;t ask where the house is incorprorated ;-)

This creep is not a relative of the family that was robbed, he is however a relative of a neighbor that also has a drug problem, I think the good neighbor set up his relative to steal from his friendly neighbors while they were out. With neighbors like this who needs enemies. I hope you rot in jail and I hope you turn evidence on your Uncle so he can sit right beside you!!!!
