Guess the Number of RR Crossing Tickets Issued Thursday

If you include written warnings, the tally was more than two dozen, police said.

Twenty folks were ticketed and another five issued warnings for stopping within a railroad grade crossing Thursday, according to the .

The enforcement was conducted Thursday afternoon in conjunction with the Canadian National Railway Police at the tracks that intersect Route 126 east of Route 59.

The department has been conducting grade crossing checks almost monthly since the beginning of the year to educate the public on the dangers of parking too close to or on top of railroad tracks or disobeying railroad signals.

Police also issued five tickets for violating the Illinois Child Passenger Safety Act and one for failing to wear a seatbelt. One person was given a written warning for trespassing on railroad property.
