A Plainfield woman's lawsuit alleging a Presence St. Joseph Medical Center worker had sex with her in a shower while she was a patient in the psychiatric ward was probed by the police a year ago, a spokeswoman said.
"The safety of our patients is of the utmost importance to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center," Presence Health spokeswoman Andrea Benander said in an email. "The allegations in the lawsuit were thoroughly investigated by the hospital and the Joliet Police Department a year ago; no charges were filed."
The lawsuit filed in Will County court Friday accuses St. Joseph employee Maurice Nelson of having sex with Plainfield resident Courtney Payer in October 2012.
Payer is a "high risk patient with clear and obvious diminished mental capacity," the lawsuit said.
Nelson and the hospital are both named as defendants.
