Dead Dog in Cage Found in Troy Township

Anyone with info on the dog is asked to call animal control or the sheriff's police.

A bus driver made an upsetting discovery Tuesday morning near County Line and Bell roads in Troy Township, according to the Herald News.

The driver spotted an emaciated pit pull in a wire cage by the side of the road. A sheriff's deputy who responded to the scene found that the dog had already died, according to the report.

Will County Animal Control Officer Mindy Pomykala said the dog was a gray female pit bull with a pink nylon collar and appeared "extremely emaciated and malnourished." Pomykala said the dog was not frozen, and appeared to have been left by the side of the road shortly before she was discovered.

Anyone with information on the dog is asked to call Animal Control at 815-462-5633 or Will County Sheriff’s Police at 815-727-8574.
