Fill the Boot for Plainfield Fire Protection District

Firefighters will be station at Jewel-Osco at 13460 Route 59 Saturday to raise money for "I Am Me" burn camp.

The following was provided by the Plainfield Fire Protection District

On Saturday, May 11 Plainfield Fire Protection District Firefighters will be at the Jewel-Osco, 13460 S. Route 59, from 10 am until 4 pm collecting funds to “Fill the Boot” for the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance Burn Camp “I Am Me.”  Donations collected will be used to support Camp “I Am Me” and its burn prevention programs.

Burn Camp “I Am Me” invites young burn survivors to share their experience while being able to play and not feel self-conscious about how others may react to their scars.  The Burn Camp “I Am Me” volunteer staff includes fire service personnel as well as doctors, nurses, social workers, child life, physical and occupational therapists, Camp Duncan counselors and adult burn survivors.  Funds collected during fundraisers are used to support burn camp operations and also go towards camp expenses.
