For Love's Sake, Buckle Up -- or Pay the Price

Plainfield police start their next seat belt campaign on Tuesday; it runs through Feb. 14.

Who says cops can't be romantic? The 's seat belt campaign, which starts Tuesday and runs through Valentine's Day, is called "Buckle Up for Love."

But love is what you won't be getting if they stop you and find that someone in your car isn't properly belted in their seat, according to a release issued by Traffic Sgt. Eric Munson. It's a zero-tolerance campaign, meaning you'll be getting a ticket, not a warning.

Officers will be conducting patrols on foot and by car during the day and at night in different parts of the village. Extra enforcement is being funded through a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation Division of Traffic Safety.
