Icy Weather Leads to Spin-Outs, Bus Crash

National Weather Service issues winter weather condition, warning of sleet, snow and freezing rain.

Two people were taken to area hospitals following a two-vehicle crash on Route 59 early Monday.

Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton said a school bus was involved in a crash around 6 a.m. near Naperville-Plainfield Road when it spun out and struck another vehicle. Stratton said no students were on the bus at the time of the crash.

The driver of the bus and the driver of the other vehicle were taken to area hospitals for observation, Stratton said.

Weather advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until 11 a.m. Monday.

Periods of sleet, snow and freezing rain could create dangerous conditions, according to the NWS.

“Moderate to at times heavy sleet could fall through mid-morning, creating slippery conditions and significantly impacting the morning community,” the advisory cautions. “Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility.”
