Man Armed with Gun Robbed White Castle on Route 59: Police

Joliet police say Kenneth Gutschick donned a face mask before forcing employees to turn over $285.

A man wearing a mask and armed with a gun stole $285 from the White Castle restaurant on Route 59, Joliet police said.

Kenneth Gutschick, 23, of 5316 Maple Glen Drive, Plainfield, was arrested and charged with armed robbery Thursday for the stickup, which took place at about 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to a report in the Joliet Herald News.

Employees said Gutschick came into the 2231 S. Route 59 restaurant, told them he forgot his wallet and returned dressed in the mask and carrying the gun, the story said. They were able to give police a description of Gutschick and the license plate on his car, which they found a block away from his home, police told the paper.

Police towed the vehicle and then interviewed Gutschick after he called to report it stolen, the story said. After speaking to the woman that Gutschick said he was with the night before, they took him into custody, the story said.

Gutschick is being held in the Will County jail in lieu of $200,000 bond.
