Look Up Crime Stats in Plainfield

Patch has created a searchable database of the FBI's recently released 2011 stats on violent crimes and property crimes.

The FBI recently released its 2011 Uniform Crime Report, which compiles information from local law enforcement about violent crimes and property crimes in their communities.

Use the pull-down menu to find your city or town. Violent crimes and property crimes are listed as totals, and are then broken down into several categories. Murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault are all categories of violent crimes. Burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft and arson are all categories of property crimes.

In Plainfield, for instance the data shows five arson reports in 2011.

38% increase(65->90) in cases of burglary in Plainfield in just the last year. 25% increase in arson. For comparison, burglary was down 2% in Joliet YoY. A lot of residents remember the arson fires, and the departments response. Once there were 2 identified arson fires on the SAME BLOCK, the police did what? Told people to lock their car doors. 3 Fires... nothing. It took 4 arson crimes on the same block before the police decided to do something, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in losses, before finally catching the 12yr old boy starting the 5th fire, all within a few dozen feet of each other. When a 12yr old boy makes an entire department look foolish, there is something severely wrong with the way the department is being run.

What would you change and why aren't you actually addressing the issues by running for office as opposed to venting your tiresome spleen in every article that even mentions the Plainfield Police?

Tim, According to your post elsewhere it was robberies that were up 38%. Which is it? You do know the difference right? Wow, those arsons all the way up to 5 for all of 2011! This is a crime wave?
