Man Charged in Crash that Killed Woman, Injured Plainfield Man
Matthew Lambert is believed to have been drunk and high when he struck a motorcycle driven by Gregory Kawohl, killing Kawohl's passenger, Kendall County police say.
A man who was allegedly drunk and high on marijuana when he drove in front of a motorcyclist, killing the cyclist's female passenger, has been arrested by the Kendall County Sheriff's Department.
Matthew D. Lambert, 28, of Somonauk, faces two counts of aggravated DUI, a class 2 felony, and three counts of reckless homicide, a class 3 felony, the department announced in a release today.
The accident occurred shortly before 8:25 p.m. Oct. 10 at the intersection of Walker and Grove roads, near Yorkville. It's alleged that Lambert, who was taking a left-hand turn from Grove onto Walker turned in front of a motorcycle driven by Gregory Kawohl, 45, of Plainfield, the release said.

The collision injured Kawohl and his passenger, Colleen M. Hunkler, 46, of Wilmington, both of whom were transported to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, where Hunkler later died, the release said.
Blood and urine samples were taken from Lambert, who was not injured, following the accident. They showed that Lambert's blood alcohol content was over the legal limit of .08 and tested positive for THC, a component found in cannabis, the release said.

Lambert was arrested at his home on Dec. 23 and is being held at the Kendall County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
