Alcohol may have been a factor in an early morning crash that left a Joliet man in critical condition, Joliet Police Cmdr. Al Roechner said.

The 46-year-old man was driving westbound on Theodore shortly after midnight when he veered off into a yard near County Line Road and was ejected 30 feet from his car, Roechner said.

He was transported to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet and later flown to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, he said. He suffered massive internal and head injuries.

The man's identity was not released. He lives in Joliet but has a Plainfield address.
