Man Totals Car in Collision with Tree, Officials Say

Driver ticketed for failure to reduce speed in Thursday afternoon crash on U.S. 30 near 127th Street.

An 18-year-old Naperville man who plowed his car into a tree on U.S. 30 near 127th Street Thursday afternoon was lucky to walk away from the crash, Deputy Chief Jon Stratton said.

"I don't know how he was even able to get out of the car" given how badly damaged the vehicle was, he said.

The driver's name was not released by Illinois State Police District 5 because the report was not finalized as of Friday afternoon, but he was able to walk and his injuries were non-life threatening, Sgt. R. Case said.
