Man With Potty Mouth Is Charged With Theft

Tinley Park police arrested a Plainfield man last week after snatch-and-swear incident at First Midwest Bank Ampitheatre.

A Plainfield man faces a theft charge after police said he snatched a radio during a Seether concert at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park and cursed over the airwaves.

Michael J. Lorenzo, 31, of the 1900 block of Canton Ridge Drive in Plainfield, was arrested around 9:40 p.m. June 4 by Tinley Park police.

Employees at the theater reported Lorenzo had stolen a Motorola Radius CP200 radio valued at $860 from a south guest accessible table. The table is used to help patrons find their seats, according to the police report.

"After the radio went missing, a male voice made several broadcast transmissions over channel 1, the main theater band," the report said. "The transmissions included, "mother f-----, f--- you, f---, and singing along with the band's music. They were able to determine the transmissions were coming from inside the pavilion area … "

Employees were asked to keep a lookout for the device, and one spotted it in the crowd because he was able to see its red, blinking light.

Police said security guards approached the man, later identified as Lorenzo, who had the radio dangling from his waistband. They escorted him to the security office, where he "refused to talk about the incident, stating he wanted his attorney," said the report. The officer also wrote: “I will note that the suspect was highly intoxicated."

Lorenzo was charged with theft. While on his way to the Tinley Park Police Department, Lorenzo rested his face against a cage in the squad car and fell asleep.
