Motorcyclist in Fair Condition After Crash

Police said the driver of an SUV failed to slow down in time to avoid striking the motorcycle rider.

A motorcyclist was taken to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center Wednesday night after he was rear-ended by an SUV, officials said.

Jon Stratton said the man was in fair condition after the crash, which happened just after 7:30 p.m. on southbound Route 59 near .

Sgt. Mike Fisher said the motorcycle rider was slowing down to make a turn when he was struck by the SUV and knocked off his Harley-Davidson. Following the crash, the man complained of pain in his legs, Fisher said.

“He took a pretty good shot from that vehicle,” Stratton said, but added the man was “talking, conscious, alert.”

Fisher said the driver of the SUV was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
