No Deal Yet For Brit Charged With Trying to Buy 12-year-old Girl For Sex

The attorney for an Englishman charged with trying to buy a 12-year-old girl for sex said he has yet to receive a plea offer from prosecutors.

"I spoke to the state about that," said Alexander Beck, the lawyer for Charles Bocock, who has been jailed since June on charges of indecent solicitation, grooming and traveling to meet a minor.

Bocock, 36, appeared in Will County court Wednesday morning. A British citizen and permanent resident of the United States residing in Chicago, Bocock allegedly responded to a Craigslist advertisement posted by a Plainfield resident trying to get money for his car payment. But in exchange for the money, Bocock wanted a girl for sex, officials said.

The Plainfield resident went to the police and an investigator pretending to be the cash-strapped Craigslist poster continued the online conversation with Bocock, officials said. The investigator reportedly offered Bocock his 12-year-old niece for the car payment money, and a rendezvous was set up for Monday afternoon at a Dunkin' Donuts on Route 59.

After Bocock, 36, was taken into custody, police searched his North Tripp Avenue home and found numerous images of child pornography, according to a prosecutor.

Bocock allegedly was in the market for a girl between the ages of 7 and 11 but settled for the 12 year old.

Beck told Judge Sarah Jones he has issued subpoenas for computer records.
