Two Hurt in I-55 Crash Near Renwick

No life-threatening injuries in crash near Plainfield.

Two people were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries following a three-car crash on southbound Interstate 55 near Renwick Road Monday evening.

Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton said it’s not known whether a slippery roadway was a factor in the crash, which happened around 5:45 p.m., but said WESCOM is warning emergency responders to be aware of icy conditions.

“The overpasses and some of the areas are getting kind of slick,” Stratton said. “People are spinning out.”
