Outdoor Fire Spreads, Causes Damage to Plainfield Home

Fire spread to the siding of a home in the 11600 block of Glen Circle.

A resident trying to burn off grass near some decorative bushes sustained minor burns to his face when high winds caused the fire to spread Monday afternoon, officials said.

Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton said firefighters responded to the blaze at around 5:30 p.m. in the 11600 block of Glen Circle.

The winds caused the flames to spread to the exterior of the home, causing some damage to the vinyl siding, Stratton said.

The man refused treatment for his facial injury, Stratton said. Despite the exterior damage, the home was still habitable, he said.
