Plainfield Pedestrian Killed by Car Tuesday Morning, Police Say

The victim is Charles Phillips III, of Plainfield, according to the Will County Coroner's Office.

A 54-year-old man was killed early Tuesday morning after being struck by a car in Crest Hill, police said.

Charles A. Phillips III was attempting to cross the street in the middle of the 900 block of Sak Drive at about 6:25 a.m. when he was hit, Crest Hill Deputy Chief Brad Hertzman said.

Phillips, a Plainfield resident, was pronounced dead at 6:54 a.m. at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, according to the Will County Coroner's Office.

The driver of the car stopped after the accident, Hertzman said. No tickets have been issued.

The case is under investigation by Crest Hill police, Hertzman said. There's no indication that alcohol played a role in the incident, he said.

Don't cross in the middle of the street!

JB I think that comment is completely unnecessary. A family has lost their loved one. Prayers to the entire Phillips family. My heart goes out to you during this difficult time.

That's right over there by First Student Bus Co---wondering how that plays in the picture, if at all? Lots of traffic over there that time of morning...prayers not only for the family of this man, but for the driver involved, who thankfully stopped and was undoubtedly traumatized by it. Comfort to all!
