PEMA Accepting Volunteer Applications

The Plainfield Emergency Management Agency is looking for help.

The Plainfield Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) is currently conducting an open enrollment period for new members.  PEMA is responsible for coordinating and supporting all emergency preparedness and response activities during a disaster or local emergency situation for the Village of Plainfield; providing weather spotters during severe weather events; assisting during special events in the village; and also educating the general public about emergency preparedness and Homeland Security procedures.

Those interested in assisting the Plainfield community are asked to either stop by the Plainfield Police Department, located at 14300 S. Coil Plus Dr., Plainfield, or go to www.plainfieldema.orgto download an application.

Applicants must be at least 20 years of age, live in Plainfield Township or Wheatland Township in Will County or Na Au Say Township of Kendall County, and be willing to commit at least ten hours of volunteer time per month.

Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2. Applicants must pass a basic background inquiry/investigation. Questions can be directed to Deputy Director Ken Ruggles at 815-267-7211.
