Plainfield Fire Dept. Swears in Staff, Announces New Lieutenants

Fire protection district staffers' first shift in their new positions was May 19.

The Plainfield Fire Protection District is pleased to announce that the following Firefighter/Paramedics have been promoted to Lieutenants: Chad Johnson, Patrick Murphy and Brandon Wright.  

To qualify for their promotions they went through a testing process to get onto the promotional hiring list. They also completed a 40-hour officer development program and for the past 6 months they have been assigned to work side by side with a current Lieutenant. They began their shifts on Monday, May 19. They were all sworn into their new positions during a swearing in ceremony that was held at Fire District Headquarters on Monday, May 12.

Six new full-time firefighter/paramedics were hired and also sworn in on May 12. They include: Joseph Baber, William Cascone, Jason Ewing, Mike Lough, Joshua Serrato and Rocco Zoccoli. 
  
In addition to the six new full time firefighter/paramedics, James Neuman was hired as a contract firefighter/paramedic and three part-time firefighter/paramedics were hired, Ryan Cihak, Matt Gallagher and Michael Hammerstein Jr. They also all began their shifts on Monday, May 19 with a firefighter orientation and two-week fire academy program. 

They all have basic firefighter certification from the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal and paramedic certification from the Illinois Department of Public Health.  Upon completion of their training they will be assigned to their shifts.
