Plainfield Gym Teacher in Teen Sex Case to Have Last Pretrial Hearing

Former Plainfield North High School physical education teacher Ashley Blumenshine's final pretrial hearing was set Tuesday.

Two years and 26 days after she was allegedly caught partially clothed in her car with a similarly undressed teenage boy, former Plainfield North High School teacher Ashley Blumenshine will appear for what is supposed to be her final pretrial hearing.

Judge Amy Bertani-Tomczak set a Jan. 30 court date for Blumenshine with her trial on a charge of criminal sexual assault to follow, barring a plea deal.

Blumenshine, 29, taught physical education and dance at Plainfield North until resigning in the wake of the January 2011 sex scandal. She was also a coach for the girls' golf and gymnastics teams.
