  • Giovanni Cinfio, 23, of the 13000 block of Tiger Lily Lane, Plainfield, was arrested at his home at around 1:50 a.m. after allegedly crashing his car after a night of drinking, according to Sgt. Mike Fisher.

Fisher said Cinfio drove into a tree about a block from his house. A witness heard the crash and spotted Cinfo getting out of the car and walking to his house, police said.

"He was stumbling around the car," Fisher said. Police arrived and apprehended Cinfio at his home after observing his "obvious high level of intoxication," Fisher said.

Fisher said Cinfio suffered minor facial injuries in the crash. He was arrested after being treated and released from a local hospital.

After arresting Cinfio, police discovered his license had been suspended for a prior DUI arrest in March 2013. The second offense netted Cinfio a felony DUI charge, according to Will County records.

Cinfio was booked into the Will County jail on charges of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on a suspended license, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane use, according to jail records.

Fisher said Cinfio was also charged resisting/obstructing an officer after attempting to dodge police.

"He was under the mistaken idea that if he was at his home, he couldn't be arrested," Fisher said.
