Plainfield Man Cited for Crash in Front of Hospital

It's not known whether the rainy, wet conditions contributed to the collision, in which one driver was ticketed for disobeying a traffic signal.

Paramedics didn't have far to go when a man crashed his SUV into a sedan driven in front of Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Thursday afternoon.

Norman Leggett, 71, 21342 W. Sycamore Drive, was cited for disobeying a traffic control device after the front of his Ford Escape hit the driver side door of a car driven by a 27-year-old Hillside woman, Elmhurst police said. The collision occurred at the corner of Brush Hill and York roads; conditions were wet and rainy.

Traffic was slowed but the lanes remained open. Information on the injuries was not released.
