Plainfield Man Nabbed by Auto Theft Unit

Ryan Henderson is accused of attempting to use someone else's identity to obtain a vehicle, police said.

A Plainfield man is charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit identity theft after allegedly trying to obtain a vehicle under false pretenses, according to police.

Ryan Henderson, 20, of the 24000 block of Cedar Creek Lane, was arrested Oct. 16 by the Tri County Auto Theft (TCAT) unit, TCAT Director Dan Likens said. The arrest took place on Kittyhawk Court in unincorporated Plainfield, he said.

"He was obtaining a vehicle by using someone else's identity," said Likens. "... We don't believe it to be a legitimate transaction."

According to Likens, TCAT continues to investigate the case, and additional arrests or charges are possible.

Henderson remained at the Will County jail on Thursday. His bond was set at $20,000. He is due in court Nov. 7.
