A 50-year-old woman told police she was walking on the north side of the roadway, heading east on Feeney Drive near Lily Cache Road around 9:30 p.m. when she observed a male walking west from Lily Cache onto Feeney. According to police, the male passed by her and a few moments later, she felt someone reach around her and grab her by the shirt. The victim told police the subject hit her in the face, making her fall to the ground and causing her purse to fly off her shoulder. The subject stole $100 cash from a side pocket of the purse and ran off, according to Will County Sheriff's police. He is described as a white male between the ages of 20 and 40, about 5-foot-10 and 140 pounds, police said.
Someone entered a detached garage in the 23000 block of Grinton Drive and stole a laptop, carton of cigarettes, three bottles of Bacardi rum, a band saw, a sawzall, hammer drill, drill bits and a cordless drill, among other items, police said.
Matthew Young, 22, of the 1400 block of Woodford Drive, Joliet, was arrested by Will County Sheriff's police and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, police said. Editor's note: As of October 2013, the DUI charge against Young had been dropped.
Someone broke into a home in the 13000 block of Petersburg and stole a laptop, portable hard drive and $200 from a purse, according to sheriff's police.
Someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the 300 block of 103rd Street in Wheatland Township, according to Will County Sheriff's police. Nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle.
