Plainfield Police Investigating Vintage Harvest Vandals
Police are asking residents to report any suspicious activity.
Plainfield police on Monday confirmed reports of vandalism in the village's Vintage Harvest neighborhood, located west of Route 59 and north of Fraser Road.
Sgt. Mike Fisher said police received multiple reports of property damage on Saturday, Dec. 28. He said the incidents appeared to be isolated to Vintage Harvest.
"Obviously, we believe it was related," he said.
Fisher said police got reports spray-painted graffiti on utility boxes, park signs, playground equipment and, in one case, a resident's vehicle.
Police do not believe the graffiti is gang-related, according to Fisher, who said the symbols did not resemble any known gang signs but appeared to be "random drawings."
Fisher said residents discovered the vandalism in the morning and were unable to give police a description of the alleged vandal or vandals.
"We're keeping extra watch on that neighborhood and the ones around it," he said, urging residents who notice any suspicious activity to contact police. The non-emergency number for Plainfield police is 815-436-2341.
