Plainfield Police: Labor Day Crackdown Nets 3 DUI Arrests, 81 Seatbelt Violations

The federally funded enforcement took place from mid-August through Labor Day.

From Aug. 16 through Labor Day, Plainfield police made three drunken driving arrests; issued 81 seatbelt citations, 13 citations for violations of the child passenger safety act, six citations for illegal transportation of alcohol; and made five drug-related arrests as part of a Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over/Click It or Ticket crackdown.

"The Plainfield Police Department joined forces with state and local law enforcement agencies in conducting the crackdown campaign featuring high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities including a media campaign and additional police activity," Traffic Sgt. Eric Munson said in a press release. "In addition, this enforcement campaign included a roadside safety check done in conjunction with the Illinois State Police that was conducted on Saturday, Aug. 31, where a total of 399 vehicles were checked."

The crackdown was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation's Division of Traffic Safety, and is part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
