Plainfield St. Patrick's Day Crackdown Nets Four DUI Arrests

Plainfield police stepped up drunken driving, seat belt enforcement from March 14 to 17.

The Plainfield Police Department made four drunk-driving arrests during the recent St. Patrick’s Day crackdown, three of which were made after midnight. In addition, 69 occupant restraint citations were written, 43 of which occurred during nighttime enforcement hours.

Plainfield police joined forces with other state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners in the Illinois St. Patrick’s Day campaign. The campaign featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities which included a strategic media campaign as well as additional enforcement activity.

Extra emphasis was given to late-night hours, as statistics show the highest number of motorists drink and drive and the fewest motorists buckle up during this time of day.

This law enforcement crackdown was funded by federal traffic safety grants through IDOT’s Division of Traffic Safety and is part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns.
