Plainfield Woman Wakes to Find Intruder in Her Bedroom: Police

The victim told police she felt someone touching her as she slept in her bed.

A Plainfield woman awoke to find a stranger touching her as she slept at her home in the 24600 block of John Adams Drive on Wednesday, police said.

The victim said she was asleep in her bedroom at around 4 a.m. when she felt someone touching her upper body over her clothes. Her screams alerted two other residents in the home, and the suspect fled, according to police.

The victim told police that the suspect, who was wearing a hat, was a 5'8" to 5'10" male of unknown race. Police said a second person in the home saw the suspect flee through the garage, and said he was wearing a gray shirt and baggy pants.

Sgt. Kevin McQuaid said police believe he may have entered through the garage as well, but cannot confirm that. There was no sign of forced entry, and the garage door may have been left unlocked, according to McQuaid.

Plainfield police are urging everyone to check to make sure their doors are locked and secured. Residents should also make sure their garage doors are functioning properly and closed at night.

Anyone with information in regards to the incident or the location of the offender is asked to contact

contact Plainfield Police Detective Chris Allen at (815) 267-7215 or Detective Sergeant Kevin McQuaid at (815) 267-7209.
