Police Respond to Gunshot in North Plainfield

No arrests in late-night incident on Champion Drive.

No one was hurt early Sunday when an unknown suspect fired a shot into the air during what police called a “disturbance” in Plainfield’s Crossings at Wolf Creek subdivision, according to police.

Plainfield Police Sgt. Mike Fisher said police responded to Champion Drive after receiving a report of a shot fired. Officers who arrived on the scene located a shell casing in the street, but did not find a weapon, according to police.

“Apparently there was some kind of disturbance with a resident and some guests,” Fisher said. Witnesses, who claimed not to know the person's identity, said a suspect shot a single round into the air, according to police.

“They were fairly uncooperative,” Fisher said. “They claimed they don’t know who it was.”

Fisher said officers did an extensive search of the area, but did not locate a weapon or a suspect. “They weren’t able to locate anything but a single shell casing in the street,” he said.
