Report: Plainfield Family Rescued from Lake Michigan

The family was rescued by Indiana conservation officers after their boat filled with water.

A Plainfield family enjoying Labor Day on Lake Michigan was rescued Monday after their boat filled with water, according to the Times of Northwest Indiana.

NWITimes.com reported that Indiana conservation officers pulled Savino Garbuno and his children — ages 7, 12 and 14 — from the lake about one mile from shore near the Port of Indiana after 6-foot waves overtook their boat.
Conservation officers responded after a 9-1-1 call was placed at about 12:30 p.m. Monday reporting people in the lake.

All four family members were taken the the Portage Marina and checked out by EMS, according to the Times.
