A family friend of 21-year-old Alisha Bromfield said the Plainfield resident was several months pregnant when she was killed, according to the Door County Advocate.
The friend, who asked not to be named, said suspect Brian M. Cooper, 35, was not the father of the baby.
Door County Sheriff Terry Vogel would neither confirm nor deny that Bromfield was pregnant. The sheriff has also not released any information regarding Bromfield's cause of death.
Cooper, who has not been formally charged, is scheduled to appeaer in Door County Circuit Cort at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The pair reported worked together at the Joliet Home Depot store, but Vogel told the Door County Advocate it was unclear if they were employees of the store or an outside company.
He said the couple did not live together.

I am so very very sad and upset that this happened to two wonderful Familys.
This is a tragedy, my condolences to the family and everyone that was close to her.
If he's found mentally disturbed it's an affirmative defense that can affect sentencing. Also, I'd be surprised if his lawyer doesn't claim extreme emotional disturbance; that being spurned repeatedly caused him to go into a fit of rage where he lost control of himself. I may not agree with it, but it's the law.
