18 Drivers Ticketed for Stopping in RR Crossing

The train track enforcement campaign also nabbed people who violated other driving laws.

Some folks didn't get the memo, and were nabbed by for stopping within the railroad crossing on Route 126 east of Route 59 on Tuesday.

Those 18 drivers now have a mandatory meeting with a judge and face fines and penalies of up to $750.

The , conducted with the assistance of Canadian National Railway police, aims to educate drivers about laws governing railroad signals and grad crossings. The Plainfield Police Department has conducted similar enforcement campaign every month for more than a year.

In addition to the tickets for railroad grade crossing violations, they also issued these citations:

No insurance -- 3

Expired driver’s license -- 1

Driving while license suspended -- 1

Disobeying a no passing zone -- 1

Disobeying a signal indicating approach of train -- 1 warning
